shy

I'm a:
'Shy Girl - Always in control, and that often works out the best on a holiday night out, But stop playing it so safe! We know its not cool to get wasted, but you need to let down your hair and live a little! Perhaps a bit of dutch courage will give you that pep you need to go for it a bit more.'

From the Pull-o-meter. Quite accurate, although I do get wasted regularly enough and still don't pull!

Thank the Lord, the new ADSL line is working. How do BT get away with being so rubbish? Two days stuck in work without the Internet! As there is also no surf and no chance for a week at least, have been feeling quite suicidal. But I have learnt a lot about XHTML and CSS, and am truly ashamed of my website.

Finished reading Small Island by Andrea Levy. Started slow and couldn't see what all the fuss is about. Missed the 'twist' until only a couple of chapters from the end (how did I ever get that degree ;-). It gathers pace all the way through. Very topical too. Despite all the awards it's not an incredibly literary, difficult sort of book, but very accessible. Not quite White Teeth quality, but read it if you get the chance. 8/10.

style

Washington Post Style Invitational - change a word by one letter and see what you can come up with. My favourite is '2 - Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.' Closely followed by '16- And the pick of the literature: Ignoranus: A person who’s both stupid and an asshole.' I know a few of those.

pure vacations

Miguel has teamed up with Pure Vacations to offer the Surfivor camp to more people. Looks like it'll be a fun summer, but hard work too! I hope I get the chance to surf at least once a day, it's what I'm going for!

magicseaweed

Reading the forums on Magicseaweed.com and looking at poster's websites. I like this one:dreamsurf, lots of good pics of heavy UK waves tho the design isn't so hot. Singlefin is on there too as Grizzly - he's everywhere I go! And Riptionary - a surf lingo lexicon which even has a quiz so you can waste more time! Magicseaweed has a t-shirt design comp running, wish I was good with PS.

dreams

What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuit.
- Carl Jung

From Alexthegirl, a great writer's inspiration site. But she can't spell.

Roma

Back from beautiful Roma, impressed by the Colosseo and Fontana de Trevi (always my fave); less impressed by the Sistine Chapel (but it might just have been the seething, stinking mass of humanity in it). The Italian interpretation of 'customer service' can be veeery loose, and even with my placid disposition I've been sharp with them a few times! Had the best gnocchi in the world last night, and the pizza is amazing.

hiraeth

 'Aries - March 21 - April 19
You may be at the bottom of a deep well, but you can see the stars from down here. Yes, hope springs eternal. Whenever you get out, you resolve not to repeat the scenario that brought you here in the first place.'

Too fucking right! Mae hiraeth arna i.

sim

The New York Times has an interactive feature showing computer simulations of the tsunami and photos of before/after which are the clearest presentation of the disaster I've seen. Chilling, too. It's the interactive feature bit on the right hand side of the page.
