style

Have got off my arse and written a new template and style sheet for the blog! Rest of the site is next. Not that this is finished - way too boring.

Learned everything I know (not much at the moment) from the WestCiv tutorial - very very good, although a few things are still foxing me. As you can tell.

sites

The most annoying things on websites:
music - if I want to listen to any, I'll choose my own, thanks
horizontal scrolling
flashing ads in the middle of articles - can anyone read while the Crazy Frog shakes his (tiny) thang?!
splash pages

Of course I know my own site is poor, I haven't even CSS'd it yet. But I'm not doing it for a living, am I?

stories

Have started to browse the BBC Get Writing site in earnest. I don't dare put my fledgling surf stories on there (just finished one called Tribal Law) to be ripped to shreds! Not yet. But I am writing reviews of other people's stories, one or two a day. Hopefully when I need some critiquing, they'll be there for me.

Turned on the TV and saw Dr Spencer Jordan from UWIC, the rather pompous guy who grilled me in a job interview, winning a £20,000 book contract on Richard and Judy. Good on all the winners, but boy, am I jealous. I should have put my first chapter(s) in...

lwcus

I am nerdier than 43% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

From singlefin

I got to see GLC after all - really good, such fun and energy. I wrote a long post but Blogger lost it and I'm not going to do it all again.

My luck seems to be in at the moment - I've lost weight, had a great day in Brum with Bro, and have a shot at my dream job. Hope the luck holds, but I guess that's my three things. Not complaining!

surf at last

There's some surf around at last, but I'm ill and can't be on it. Typical. Have lent my brother my pristine T&C with my blessing, God I hope it comes back safe.

Also missed the Goldie Lookin Chain gig last night, two wasted tickets, so gutted as I've been looking forward to it for ages.

pass the ky...

KY jelly ad

I think they should use it. No, really. Better than the damn website which won't give me my free sample of KY Warming stuff because it insists I'm under 18.

(I haven't drunk a drop tonight, btw. I think it's just surf deprivation.)

desperate

If I hear one more person liken Desperate Housewives to Sex & the City I'll fucken scream.

S&C - four beautiful women: DH - ditto
S&C - a character does some narration: DH ditto

There the similarities end.

S&C - sharpest scripts ever: DH - nothing much happens, ever
S&C - good acting: DH - doing the best they can (ref: previous point)
S&C - relevant (everyone's been single): DH - few of us are OCD, super rich, cheating mannequins and not everyone is/has been/wants to be fucking married!
S&C - honest, real topic treatment (rimming, shaving, female ejaculation, need I continue?): DH - trite little comments like 'Waunita realised it wasn't the men her daughter-in-law did talk to that were the ones she had to watch out for'.

I've tried, but I really cannot see what anyone likes about this shit. It's so unoriginal.

Saw Ocean's Twelve. Better than I expected. Gorgeous scenery (Rome and Amsterdam, not Brad Pitt - not my cuppa) and pretty slick. Somehow it does miss the mark of the first one, but that's not to say it's not worth a look. Especially if you've got an Orange Wednesdays voucher!

bells

I've just realised my parental units will be in Vic while the Bell's is on. Truly, life can sting!

Realised cos I created an iCal calendar for WCT events, so I will remember to watch feeds on the net while 'working'. Uploaded at iCalShare and here, if anyone wants. (Too much time on my hands? Maybe.)

banana dog

My lil sis made this as part of her 'revision' for her vet finals:

chinese horoscope

"Elegant and refined with a tendency toward being physically beautiful, Snakes are vain, high tempered, determined and often hugely successful. Though they are careful, Snakes make decisions quickly and firmly and have the knack of being in the right place at the right time and sensing a good thing when it comes their way, thus are fortunate in money matters. They are also deep thinkers who speak little though they have great wisdom. Most compatible with: Roosters and Oxen." Blue Dragon
So wrong! Vain?! Hmph. Nor am I successful, elegant, refined, beautiful or fortunate with money. I can't make a decision to save my life. I may not say much, but I'm more likely to just be thinking about the next meal...

aviator

He builds a plane, pulls a movie star, has an OCD moment, builds another plane, pulls another star... you get the drift. This goes on for nearly three hours. If Dad hadn't been enjoying it, my sister and I would have walked out. Teeeeedious.

Still no surf, either. This is getting seriously ridiculous now.

sick

' >> Man slices up penis <<
This is what happens when a bloke uses a scalpel
to slice his old chap up like a cheap salami. A
contender for the new classic foul image to shock
your friends.'
