What a weekend! Lush weather, surfed every day although Monday was only to try out Em's new board.

Out every night with Em and Katie, had a ball, even met someone, but don't think he's gonna call so no more about that.

Back to work and a ton of things landed on my desk, and all I really wanna do is go to Jersey...

silly season

A million VW's (good), sunshine and clean waves (excellent), a million fucking townies drunk from noon onwards, bad. It's like August Bank Holiday at home in Wales but many times worse...

They have set up a bungee thing outside the window and Berties is 'oy-oy'-ing away merrily. I'm not keen on coming out here this weekend, they're all mad mingers.

Getting a bit star-struck today at the RoxyJam. Spotted Megan but had nothing for her to sign... But I will track her down later this week. Renee got an interview with Keala Kennelly who was really cool. Louise was chatting with Rochelle Ballard in the carpark, I just stood there and kept quiet! The girls were stoked to get 4-5ft and fairly clean but not so happy that they didn't run another round or two while the surf's decent. They're not keen on Perranporth! So cool to see them all just chillin on the beach, none of the groupie shit you get in Oz, they just mingle around with everyone.

surfed out

Didn't spend long in Perranporth, it was hailing then pouring down. Saw Lisa Andersen in the Roxy tent, not looking very happy. Didn't know where to get my press pass and couldn't be arse anyway, so went to look for shelter. Fistral wasn't bad, had a fun surf there before the wind picked up. Caught loads and loads of waves, back in the swing of it! Saw Rosie from Thurs night, she reminds me of Cass which is cool. Surfs pretty good too, though I only saw her on about two before I got out.

Sunday went to see StarWars, I loved it but didn't think it was absolutely amazing, but that's how hype gets you.

Then went on the search from Porthtowan to Newquay and ended up having a very short but super fun session at wedgy Great Western on the high tide. Nearly hit the rock a few times. Was keen for a dropping tide sesh but didn't find one.

So got up early this morning for a quick one, Fistral sloppy crap so Great W again, small but fun. Did a little snap and was so surprised fell straight off! But smacked it hard which will leave me smiling for ages. Need my other board so bad, but Em is down this weekend so might leave it, get Pob to bring them for me. Meet some surfers this weekend and sample Newquay on Bank Hol!! Messy.

Tsunami Surf Relief UK Auction

We raised £12,500! It was good fun and everyone was stunned by how much things went for. £6,700 for the Damien Hirst. More details should be on their website soon. Got this morning off for helping!

Good surf today, 3-4ft not that clean but just amazing to get out there. Well out of synch all session and took every wave that came through on the head, I swear. Didn't catch much as usual, but that's ok, there's the rest of the weekend to practice. Looking forward to seeing some of the pros at Perranporth RoxyJam

RipCurl rep comes in with a boxful of clothes. Louise and I have a look through. I pick up a bikini, first substantial thing I've seen in ages, says 10 which would probably do ok, half-wetsuit half bikini, wouldn't come off, wicked... anyway, I said, 'Oh, that's really cool.' Guy gives me a sidelong look and says, 'Yeah, these are the smaller sizes in here.' I don't think size 12 comes into the 'larger sizes' range, thankyouverymuchyoucheekybastard!

surf city - not

Went to every surf shop in Newquay this lunchtime, looking for boards for Em. Didn't take that long. I missed out the 40% that are surf boutiques and bypassed Wicked Willy's, much as I love the place...

Most of the shops are selling brand new custom boards under their own labels, which is fine, but where are the second hand boards, the NSPs, the retro shapes, the cheaper options... Em's got a choice of a Bic (she'll never lift it), a Hawaiian Soul (best bet so far at about 200 inc leash and fins) or two secondhand minimals which are only 20 quid cheaper...

Racks and racks of shiny new stuff... you need some bloody money to be a surfer in this town. Or I am missing something.

Also, there are a lot of freaks about. I think the doleys are taking their hols before the main rush.

tired

Boy, am I tired. First day I have been waiting for 5:30 to arrive. Still got yoga to do, but ready for bed right now. No fuckin' surf and no prospects either, so got to do some exercise somewhere.

One mag just gone to the printers so I'm getting to do SurfGirl and website stuff, perfect.
